HISTORY

1918

Dedeman Group's foundations are laid. At the age of 15, Mehmet Kemal Dedeman takes over the administration of the shop in Grand Bazaar, Kayseri, due to the death of his father. His trade life that started in Kayseri, successfully spreads to İzmir, and then Ankara.

1933

His attempt at the construction business ends up with success. In the 10th anniversary of the Republic, Mehmet Kemal Dedeman undertakes the construction of the platform on which Atatürk will give his speech. In the following years, Mehmet Kemal Dedeman carries out several contracts from the government, and contributes to the development of the young Republic of Turkey.

1947

Introduction to the mining industry. The first mining operations were for chrome deposits in Toruntepe Region, which is connected to Kayseri's Pınarbaşı District.

1961

Dedeman Madencilik A.Ş. installs the Toruntepe Concentrator Facility with 60.000 tons/year capacity.

1966

First steps into tourism. On June 6, 1966, the most modern and comfortable hotel of the period, Dedeman Ankara, is opened with 119 rooms. Thanks to his experience in this field, Dedeman sees the potential and the shortcomings of the tourism industry, and channels the Group mainly towards tourism.

1982

Five-Star Dedeman İstanbul is opened at Esentepe on July, 1982 as one of the city's largest hotels.

1983

The institutionalization movement gains a new momentum. Mehmet Kemal Dedeman's sole proprietorship businesses changes into a joint stock company. On January 1983, Dedeman Madencilik Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. is established.

1989

Hotels Dedeman Antalya and Dedeman Cappadocia are opened.

1989

Dedeman selects tourism as its main business, and successfully diversifies and integrates into this sector.

1991

Depark, which operates in water parks and entertainment sector is established.

1992

1992 Madencilik A.Ş. launches the “Rıfat” quarry to manufacture chromium ore.

1993

Detur, which has become a brand on operating tours in Cyprus, Russia, Finland, Holland, Norway, and England is established as a Group A travel agency.

1993

During the privatization of GİMA A.Ş., 85% of its shares are purchased by Dedeman Madencilik Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., and Bilfer Madencilik A.Ş. in half shares.

1993

Buray A.Ş. partnership is established to invest in Dedeman Club Bodrum, and to market it with a timeshare system.

1993

Madencilik A.Ş. establishes the Triage Facility with a 150.000 tons/year capacity.

1994

Dedeman Madencilik A.Ş. launches the “Banu” quarry to manufacture chromium ore.

1994

Dedeman Palandöken Hotel is put into service with a 183 room capacity.

1995

Car rental services that was established locally in Antalya in 1989 is institutionalized under the name of Decar, and expands its services throughout the country.

1995

Dedeman Rize Hotel is put into service with an 82 room capacity.

1996

Congress and seminar company, Mortur, begins operating within the Dedeman structure under the name of Dekon.

1996

Dedeman Olive Tree Hotel is put into service with a 105 room capacity.

1997

Kartaş is established in order to utilize the winter tourism potential of the east of Turkey.

1997

Dedeman Park Antalya is put into service with a 64 room capacity.

1998

Group of Companies become the Dedeman Holding. Targeting to take part in the globalizing economy of the 2000s, and achieve sectoral diversification, Dedeman decides to conglomerate on February 2, 1998. Dedeman Madencilik Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. branches into separate structures which are tied to the Holding.

1998

Dedeman Diyarbakır Hotel are put into service.

1998

Dedeman Bodrum Hotel are put into service.

1999

Dedeman Madencilik A.Ş. establishes the Jig Facility with a 30,000 tons/year capacity.

2001

Dedeman Holding and its affiliated companies gather under a single company structure that is in line with their strategic partnership and cooperation on January 22, 2001: Dedeman Turizm Yatırımları Inc.

2001

A new Dedeman corporation joins in the construction industry. Detaş Yapı Malzemeleri A.Ş. is established to manufacture natural compound stone.

2001

Dedeman Holding steps into a new sector. Teknomobil Inc. is established. Through its Thuraya Satellite Telephone Systems, Teknomobil invests in the latest technology in satellite communications.

2002

Dedeman Grand Chisinau begins operating in Moldova due to the "royalty agreement”. As a result, the Dedeman brand gets stronger due to being the first Turkish hotel chain to operate under its own brand in the international arena.

2003

Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent is put into service in Uzbekistan.

2003

Institutional structuring studies enter a new stage, and start developing in line with the OECD and TUSIAD Corporate Governance Principles. In line with the institutionalization efforts of the Dedeman family, the Executive Board - Board of Directors, and transfer programs come into effect to be finalized over the next three years.

Mastra A.Ş. is established in order to bring precious metals such as sulfur, copper, zinc, lead, and complex ores into economy.

GİMA shares are sold due to strategic portfolio management preferences.

2004

Dedeman Madencilik Inc. begins zinc-lead ore production after chrome ore production. In addition, the company starts the deepest well construction of the private sector in Toruntepe / Kuzey Ocak.

2004

With the institutionalization studies, the hotel management and mining sectors are selected as main fields of activity and a decision to depart from the sectors outside the fields of expertise is made. With this decision, share sales of Detur A.Ş. - which was established in 1993 and became a brand in domestic and foreign markets - and Dekon A.Ş. - which was established as a congress and seminar company in 1996 - takes place.

2005

Mastra A.Ş. shares are sold due to strategic portfolio management preferences.

2005

The second investment in winter tourism in Eastern Anatolia is completed with the opening of Dedeman Palandöken Ski Lodge.

2006

206-room capacity Dedeman Konya Hotel & Convention Center comes into service.

2007

Teknomobil A.Ş. shares are sold due to strategic portfolio management preferences.

2007

Dedeman Şanlıurfa comes into service.

2008

Dedeman Gayrimenkul Geliştirme A.Ş. is established in order to separate the investors and operators in hotel investments, to evaluate Group real estate more effectively and to take part in the real estate sector as a new field of activity. Dedeman is actively working to increase the brand's reputation and strength both nationally and internationally.

2009

Dedeman continues to add new hotels via royalty agreements to its chain with the aim of enlarging and enriching its hospitality. In this sense, Dedeman continues to expand with the participation of Gaziantep Hotel & Convention Center and international hotels Dedeman Damascus (Syria), Dedeman Palmyra, and Dedeman Aleppo (Syria).

2011

Dedeman Zonguldak is opened on 11.11.2011.

2012

Dedeman Damascus, Dedeman Aleppo, and Dedeman Palmyra leave the Dedeman chain in January, 2012 due to geopolitic developments in Syria.

2012

Dedeman Hotels & Resorts International creates a second brand, PARK DEDEMAN, a new addition to its previous "firsts". This made Dedeman the first Turkish hotel management company that created its second chain. Park Dedeman Denizli, the first hotel of Park Dedeman concept, opens on April 7, 2012.

Dedeman Princess Sofia Hotel leave the chain.

Dedeman Dedeman Trimontium Princess Plovdiv Hotel leave the chain.

The Dedeman Group starts its restructuring process in May 2012.

2013

In the heart of Mesopotamia, Iraq, where the oldest eastern civilizations were born, Dedeman Erbil opens for service in May 2013 in the heart of Erbil with a 151 room capacity.

Park Dedeman's second hotel, Dedeman Park Gaziantep, begins welcoming its guests with 125 rooms in August 2013.

On 09 December 2013, Nazire Dedeman and all the shares of Holding and Hospitality Companies belonging to his family were transferred to Murat Dedeman and his family and the partnership is ended in activities other than Mining.

2014

A new hotel is added to the hotels abroad. Dedeman Oskemen Tavros is opened at Oskemen, one of the most important business centers in Kazakhstan. The first hotel in the region that fits international standards opens in April 2014 with a capacity of 133 rooms and 266 beds.

2015

Dedeman Bostancı İstanbul Hotel & Convention Center opens in April 2014 with a capacity of 252 rooms and 504 beds.

2015

Park Dedeman Izmailovo Moscow opened cooperation in April, but they still left Russia behind.

2015

Park Dedeman Levent, located at the center of İstanbul’s metropolitan life and the heart of business and commerce, opens with a 252 room capacity. Its LEED Gold certified eco-friendly structure is ideally located near the city's cultural, arts and entertainment venues.

2016

Park Dedeman Elazığ comes into service with a 72 room capacity.

2016

Dedeman Group; Park Dedeman opens Trabzon and Park Dedeman Tokat hotels.

2017

On July 19, 2017, Nazire Dedeman, Özlem Önal and Özben Önal Madencilik A.Ş. Dedeman Holding A.Ş. owns 49% of the shares of Murat Dedeman. and then departed from the partnership. So Nazire Dedeman and her daughters have no connection with the Dedeman Company.

2018

Turunç Hotel, the hotel owner in Eskişehir, is being renovated by Dedeman Hotels & Resorts and Park Dedeman starts out in Eskişehir.

ICON OF THE DEDEMAN GROUP

During a mine study, Mehmet Kemal Dedeman was impressed by the image of Aladağlar's Kartaltepe (Eagle Hill) summit, and decided that Dedeman's icon should be an eagle. Because he believed that the speed, strength, and soaring of an eagle which made its home at the peaks of the mountains and as the master of the skies, best described Dedeman. Since then, Dedeman wears the eagle icon proudly for over 50 years, and continues its journey onward with each passing day.
